Chaco Culture National Hist. Site Bolihua Ornament

This glass ornament is unique because it is hand painted using a process called bolihua, a reverse glass painting technique that has been practiced in China since the early 18th century. The painting is done from the inside through the holes at the top and bottom of the glass globe using special narrow brushes and pointed sticks. Each piece has the design detail applied in layers over several days. This ornament is painted with an image of the ruins found on site to commemorate Chaco Culture National Historic Site
